Professional for Cathodic Protection of Onshore Structures

The Level 1 certification for Cathodic Protection of Onshore Structures is carried out by the National System of Qualification and Certification in Corrosion and Protection (SNQC-CP, Sistma Nacional de Qualifcação e Certificação em Corrosão e Proteção) according to the ABNT NBR 15653 standard. The activities performed by the professionals, the certification levels and other information related to the qualification and certification of Professionals for Cathodic Protection of Onshore Structures are described in the ABNT NBR 15653 standard.

How to get certified

The steps for the SNQC-CP certification process are described below.

1) Documentations to be submitted

To apply for the SNQC-CP qualification exams, the candidate should send the following documentations by e-mail (snqc@abraco.org.br) for an analysis:

a) the Form for Requesting Qualification, Recertification and Reexamination (RQ 007) duly completed and signed;

b) the Code of Conduct and Ethics (RQ 004) completed and signed;

c) the Term of Responsibility (RQ 005) completed and signed;

d) the copy of the identification document with a photo (RG, class of council card, national driver’s license or passport);

e) the copy of the Individual Taxpayer’s Registry (CPF). If the candidate’s CPF number appears on his/her identification document, a copy of the CPF will not be required;

f) the copy of the training certificate according to the regulatory standard NR-10, as described in the “Guide for Candidates – Professional for Cathodic Protection of Onshore Structures” (available on the “Documents for download” page);

g) the copy of proof of educational background (diploma, course completion certificate or class of council card). Declarations are not accepted;

h) a recent 3×4 photo (scanned);

i) the copy of documents proving the minimum required professional experience, as described in the “Guide for Candidates – Professional for Cathodic Protection of Onshore Structures” (available on the “Documents for download” page).

 

Proof of professional experience

a) Employee: the copy of the professional card proving an employment relationship and a statement on the company’s letterhead with the CNPJ stamp, specifying the activities carried out in the company (please, send copies of the identification pages with the photo, the civil qualification, the employment contracts and the pages of change of functions, if any, plus the declaration of activities according to the SNQC-CP Professional Experience Declaration Model).

b) Self-employed: the copy of the employment contract or RPA with proven payments of the INSS and the statement on the company’s letterhead with the CNPJ stamp (the contract and the declaration of activities according to the SNQC-CP Professional Experience Declaration Model).

c) Own employment: the copy of the company’s social contract and the statement on the company’s letterhead with the CNPJ stamp (the social contract and the declaration of activities according to the SNQC-CP Professional Experience Declaration Model).

 

Guidelines for sending documentations

The documentations above should be sent to the following e-mail snqc@abraco.org.br. Please, pay attention to the following guidelines:

–    one file per document (example: a qualifying exam application form file, a code of conduct and ethics file, a visual acuity certificate file, an identification document file, a proof of education, a work card file + declaration, among others);

–    documents should be properly completed, legible and in pdf format (except the 3×4 photo which can be sent in image format – jpg).

Monitoring the analysis of documentations

The candidate will be able to follow the receiving of documentations, the deadlines and the status of the analysis of their documentations through the “Documentation Review” page.

2) Payment

After submitting and approving the documentations, the Certification Bureau will send the candidate a bank slip for the payment of the qualification exam. Please, see Prices and Fees for the amount charged for qualification exams. The bank slip will be sent to the candidate’s restricted area, where the candidate will have access through his login (CPF) and password.

3) Scheduling the Qualification Exam

After the payment of the bank slip by the candidate, the Certification Bureau will schedule in the requested CEQ the date for the qualification exam. The exam will be scheduled according to the availability of the CEQ, and the number of candidates registered for the CEQ. The Certification Bureau will send the candidate a written notice of the scheduled date for the exam.

4) Conducting theoretical and practical exams

The candidate should take the theoretical and practical qualification exams defined in the qualification standard and ABRACO-001 standard (available on the “Documents for download” page).

Notes:

a) the qualification exams are administered by the CEQ recognized by the SNQC-CP;

b) before taking the exams, the candidate should carefully read the instructing documents for the qualification exam;

c) the professional who fails the qualification exam may request up to two reexaminations, according to ABRACO 001 standard, and should make the payment for the reexamination. The deadline for completing the process is 12 months from the date of the first exam.

d) the practical qualification and reexaminations exams for the Level 1 of Professional for Cathodic Protection of Onshore Structures cannot be carried out in the following situations: adverse weather conditions (rain and electrical discharges); emergency or interruption of the electric power supply in the facilities of the practical exams. In these cases, The Certification Bureau will rescheduled the practical exam for a new date and the travel costs will be the candidate’s responsibility.

5) Emission of the certificate

In the case of approval of the qualification exams, the Certification Bureau will issue the professionals’ certificate to formalize the obtained the certification.
